For a fleeting moment in time, they thought it was the first installment of what would be a motherlode of explosive documents on the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal that would blow the “Deep State” wide open and bring down the liberal elites.
The fifteen MAGA Influencers invited to the White House on February 27 to receive binders labelled “The Epstein Files: Phase 1” from Attorney General Pam Bondi were ecstatic.
Bondi had long hinted about the existence of incriminating, non-public Epstein files, including a supposed "client list" that would reveal powerful individuals involved in his sex trafficking operation.
Now the moment had come. “Phase 1” had arrived. The MAGA world was jumping for joy. Retribution was here.
Donald Trump had been calling for an investigation of the scandal since Epstein was arrested in 2019. He even discussed conspiracy theories about Epstein’s suicide in jail with Tucker Carlson on Fox TV in 2023.
FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, both former MAGA conspiracy theorists, were promoting the infamous “Client List” for years before Trump appointed them to run the nation’s top law enforcement agency.
Patel had even launched a merchandise business selling pro-MAGA gear and wrote children's books featuring a character who helps "King Donald" defeat his enemies.
However, everyone soon realized that the Epstein binders contained little more than documents already in the public domain and offered few new revelations.
There was no client list included, and no proof of the widespread conspiracy theory that liberal elites were running a cabal of Satanic, cannibalistic child molesters operating a global child sex trafficking ring.
Bondi and the Trump administration hadn’t delivered on their promises.
The MAGA world suddenly experienced the first true crack in its foundation.
The “influencers” were outraged and accused the administration of not being transparent enough. Some called for Bondi's ouster.
Then came the big reality check. A.G. Bondi subsequently announced there was no "client list,” and the “files on her desk” would not be released.
This incident became the first major rift within the MAGA base and continues to test Trump's ability to control the narrative.
The President called his followers who were upset about the lack of release of the Epstein client list "stupid" and “foolish.” He called the Epstein controversy a "hoax" initiated by Democrats and claimed that his supporters had been "duped" into believing it. He even went so far as to say he didn't want the support of these "weaklings" anymore.
More reports of Trump with Epstein
Along with the recent Wall Street Journal report about an alleged handmade lewd birthday card that Donald Trump sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003, the New York Times is now reporting that Trump hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago for young women in a so-called “calendar girl” competition. Mr. Epstein was the only other guest at the event.
In a lawsuit, one woman at the event alleged that Mr. Trump took her into a bedroom, forcibly kissed her, fondled her, and restrained her from leaving. She also said that a 22-year-old contestant told her that Trump later that night crawled into her bed uninvited.
This came just a few months after Trump had hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago with NFL cheerleaders during which he and Epstein ogled the women as they danced.
Time to Leave MAGA?
Long-time Trump supporter Rich Logis, creator of the “Leaving MAGA” movement, addressed the Democratic National Convention via video (DNC) on August 19, 2024.
And now with the Epstein scandal, “Leaving MAGA” is catching on.
The website is dedicated to empowering others to leave MAGA, tell their stories, foster reconciliation with their friends and family, and develop movement leaders to help others escape the MAGA cult.
In the words of Rich Logis:
“I founded this organization, ‘Leaving MAGA,’ because I wanted to create a safe, non-judgmental community for those who leave MAGA, as well as for those who are having doubts about, or remorse over, their devotion to Trump and MAGA.
Our Leaving MAGA community will celebrate how acknowledging mistakes empowers you and America.
It’s difficult for a democracy to function well when millions are estranged from those closest to them.
You do not deserve to have your anxieties about change exploited. You deserve to know the truth. And with Leaving MAGA, you don’t have to feel you would be alone if you leave the movement.
Leaving MAGA is possible. Recognizing that we were wrong, and acting on that knowledge, makes us all more invested in democracy and in the continued work of perfecting our union.”
If you have family members who have gone down the MAGA rabbit hole, this might be your best chance to bring them back to reality.
Please do it for yourself, your family, your community, and your country.
