A Small Town Rallies for Veterans
Those who served our country took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Many now feel they are being abandoned.
A dear friend of mine, Army veteran John Pottridge, passed away this month after years of battling cancer resulting from exposure to Agent Orange in the Vietnam War.
Wounded twice in action, John was a great patriot who cared deeply for our country. He spoke out passionately in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs and was appalled that veterans’ healthcare and benefits are now under siege.
John was looking forward to attending a rally in Coronado on June 6, the anniversary of D-Day, to defend veterans' benefits and pay tribute to their sacrifices. The rally will now be held in his memory.
I'd like to share a video with rally host Mal Sandie, a 30-year Navy veteran and longtime Coronado resident. It includes a message from John that I filmed before he passed away.
If you are part of the Coronado community or live nearby, we invite you to join us. Everyone is welcome. Please share the event with your friends.
The Coronado Rally for Veterans is being held in conjunction with the Unite for Veterans rally on the National Mall, dedicated to honoring veterans, military families, and their allies while advocating for the rights and benefits of veterans.
