"It is a far cry from a faithful gospel..."
A Coronado Pastor speaks out against the "militant theology" of Awaken
Jurgen Matthesius, founder of Awaken Church of San Diego, has a plan to “take territory.”
That “vision” includes Coronado. One of the targets has been St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
According to St. Paul’s Pastor, Robb Fuesler, what Awaken preaches is a “far cry from a faithful gospel.”
Just as it failed to take our historic Coronado Village Theatre, Awaken will not get St. Paul’s Methodist Church. But it is still aggressively seeking territory in our community.
Please join the almost 800 residents who have now signed our No Cult in Coronado petition so that our voice stays strong and we remain vigilant.
Footnote:
Scores of San Diego residents have condemned Awaken as a cult on Yelp. Here is a recent comment:
I am reminded of this famous quote from prominent German pastor, Martin Niemöller:
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
