Quiet Piggy!
The Cult has Cracked, His Grip is Slipping, and, Oh My, Those Female Reporters
So Much Losing!
The Epstein Files. The Midterms Debacle. Public Approval Ratings Plummeting. Texas Gerrymandering Blocked. National Guard Deployments Halted. James Comey Indictment Collapsing. Appeal of the E. Jean Carroll Sexual Abuse Verdict Denied. Defamation Suit Against CNN Dismissed.
But worst of all: Female Reporters Asking Relevant Questions.
Donald Trump wants women in their place. Doing his bidding. Singing his praises, and, most importantly, never questioning or contradicting him.
Last week on Air Force One, Catherine Lucey, a White House correspondent for Bloomberg News, asked a legitimate follow-up question regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files when Trump cut her off, thrust his index finger at her, and said, “Quiet! Quiet, Piggy!”
Yesterday, as Trump hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in the Oval Office, ABC White House correspondent Mary Bruce asked MBS about the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was cut into pieces with a bone saw in the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul, Turkey.
Trump was serving his first term as President at the time, and his own CIA concluded that seven members of MBS’s elite personal “Tiger Squad” security detail were involved. Yet Trump defended MBS yesterday, said Bruce works for fake news, was embarrassing his guest, that a lot of people didn’t like Khashoggi, and “whether you liked him or didn’t like him, things happen…”
When Bruce followed up with a question about releasing the Epstein files, asking, “Why not just do it now?” Trump criticized her “attitude” and called her a “terrible reporter.” He accused her and ABC of being involved in a “hoax” and suggested that ABC’s license should be revoked due to their purportedly “fake” and negative coverage of him.
Trump concluded by telling Bruce to “go back and learn how to be a reporter” and that there would be “no more questions from you.”
This was misogyny on parade, a display of an ingrained hatred, contempt, and disdain for strong women from a man who has called female political opponents Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, and AOC epithets, including stupid, sick, evil, nasty, crazy, horrible, fat, and ugly.
This has been a defining characteristic of Donald Trump’s public life from the very beginning. Strong women are resented. Vulnerable women, especially younger women, are little more than sex objects.
From his comments about grabbing women by the pussy, to going backstage to ogle nude teens at his beauty pageants, leering at them with Jeffrey Espstein as they danced in his Mar-a-Lago ballroom, and paying off a pornstar he had sex with while his wife was pregnant, women are objects to be used and abused or vilified and dismissed…. unless they toe the line, pay him fealty, and do his bidding.
This is why Marjorie Taylor Greene hit so hard. After six years of being the face of MAGA and showing complete loyalty to Trump, she turned away from him over the Epstein files. Refused to do his bidding. Declined to submit to his demands.
In return, he denounced her as a “whacky, a lunatic, a disgrace, and a traitor.”
The Intrusion of Reality
It’s more than misogyny, objectification, lust, and fear. Donald Trump has spent his entire life surrounding himself with sycophants, supplicants, appeasers, and facilitators.
His Truth Social platform, Fox-TV propaganda, right-wing amplifiers, and MAGA base have formed a delusional world in which he is the “stable genius” who knows more than the generals, is never at fault, wins every golf tournament, ends every war, and aces every physical. The greatest president in history. The savior anointed by God.
The Epstein survivors, the reporters who ask him questions, and now even MTG, present an unacceptable intrusion of reality into his profoundly delusional world.
The cult is now cracking. The curtain is pulled back. The wizard is exposed. The crowd is waking up. The would-be emperor now stands naked before all of our eyes.
